What is “Dependent” (Family Dependent Residence)?

The “Dependent” residence status is a visa established to allow family members of foreigners who hold residence status and are residing in Japan to live in Japan.
Specifically, it refers to a visa for spouses or children (including biological children, adopted children, and acknowledged illegitimate children) who are dependents under the residence status held by the supporter to live in Japan.
